In this keynote, Rhonelle takes the audience on an epic adventure from her days on the streets to a corporate businesswoman and entrepreneur. Providing the lessons, she learned about leadership and resilience that she has applied throughout her life. And the practical tools she developed to achieve both Undergraduate and Graduate success, train and run the 2016 Scotiabank Marathon. All before leaving the safety net of a secure job to follow her dreams of inspiring others by founding her social venture, the RISE Initiative. And becoming a nationally recognized advocate, most recently being invited to a private roundtable with Justin Trudeau. Rhonelle's story is not one merely one of sorrow and hardship but one of resilience and determination. And in her signature keynote, she takes the audience on a transformational journey of healing and empowerment. That began as an adopted child, facing bullying and discrimination to homelessness and sexual exploitation as a teenager. Connecting to audiences of all ages and demographics, in this keynote, Rhonelle share's her story of resilience that she attributes to her ability not merely to survive but thrive in the face of adversity — leaving the audience inspired to apply these same learnings in their own lives to navigate uncertainty and cultivate growth.

Rhonelle guides the audience through her own experience of self-hate and self- doubt and how this led her to engage in multiple toxic relationships before learning how to love herself; flaws included. In this workshop, Rhonelle draws from her own experiences as a survivor of multiple traumatic experiences to provide real-life strategies to strengthen resilience. And demonstrate how a paradigm shift in thinking helped her overcome low self- esteem and self-doubt to become a leader in the story of my life. Focusing on keys to strengthening resilience informed by both the literature and my lived experience. Participants will leave with tools and strategies to increase their resilience and feel empowered in their own lives.
In this informative workshop, Rhonelle debunks many myths surrounding human trafficking and providing insight into how traffickers target, lure, control and exploit victims. Furthermore, Rhonelle explores how race and poverty intersect with sexual exploitation and how systematic change is required to create services that empower and support survivors.
